What makes this workshop PRACTICAL?
The Reading Rope developed in the 1990's by Dr. Hollis Scarborough is an easy-to understand model that breaks "reading" into a set of interwoven skills. Throughout my career, creating materials in high-interest subject areas was a practical response to meeting my students' needs at just the right time. This resulted in simple materials that could be pulled together quickly and ready to present in just a couple of days...often overnight! Students loved having materials made "just for them" which further enhanced their interest. Practically speaking, the students were growing their skills without really even realizing it!
Now that's PRACTICAL!
Key Take-aways:

Hi, I'm Claudia!
I found Montessori when I was just out of college and focused on my music career. The Montessori students who sat in our audience blew me away with their interest, curiosity and respectful delight in the music. It was an impression that drew me in 15 years later when I made the decision to study Montessori at Xavier University.
In the 40+ years since, I've been honored to served the Montessori community as classroom guide, teacher educator, school founder and director.
While I hold a Masters degree in Montessori education from Xavier University and AMS certifications in Elementary I, II and Secondary I, it was the children who taught me and transformed my practice. It was the children who inspired me and my husband, Doug, to write the book series, Paleontology for Kids, that tells Earth’s story from the Big Bang to the present in language accessible to children.
In my current work as mentor, consultant, and speaker, it is still the children in classrooms across the country and around the world that inspire me to support teachers and administrators to bring the joy and wonder of Montessori education into their schools.
It is a privilege to have you joining me on this journey!
